Pretty in Purple

Here is my entry in the C4C4 Crazy 4 challenges newest challenge. I used 2 different cuttlebug embossing folders, the middle layer is a paint chip, I also used black ribbon and a Magnolia stamped image. It is one of the new images I got in the Fall surprise stamps. I like how she turned out, hope you all do too.

SSS22 sketch for the Sweet Shop

Here is my Sketch with a spin It is a lot of fun to do the different sketch contests. I didn't know there were so many places that have them. Hope everyone enjoys my card. The spin for this sketch was to use tan's, black and red. It makes a great fall or Thanksgiving card.
Happy crafting.

Autum Leaves are Falling

I hope I managed to link it correctly.
My card has four matted layers. The center is cut with my nestibilities and has heat embossed maple leaves on it. I used silk flowers and buttons, ribbon and embossed the edges of the center layer of the card in gold. The leaf stamps and verse come from Wal Mart. I bought them a few years ago.
I hope everyone likes my efforts and I know someone will enjoy this card at Thanksgiving time this year.
Happy crafting,
Janet

Ice Cream

As promised here is another of my Sept. sketch cards. I love this little Magnolia image. I think she turned out really cute. As with the other card I used colored pencils for my image. One of these days I will figure out how to use the water color pencils so that things look good. So far I am having problems and they don't turn out very well. I hate ruining my images so I don't do the water colors much.
Everyone have a wonderful day. I am going to do some yard work. The sun is shinning and the weeds are growing so I need to get busy.
Happy Crafting,
Janet

Beading class results

Here is a scan of the bracelet I made today. It is a new pattern for me and is called a Diamond Back. I am in the process of making a second one. Always do that when I do a new pattern so I can get it fixed in my mind. I think it turned out pretty nice. Love my new emerald crystals. I bought a pack of them from Firemountian since they are my birthstone so I want to make myself some pretty jewlery.
Off to mow the lawn. Enjoy your day everyone.

Cupcake revised

As per a suggestion from one of the ladies on Just Cards I have cut out the white cardstock between the legs of my image. She looks so much more finished now. Thanks for the help ladies. I guess we all need to learn not to forget the little things. As I have said in an earlier post I welcome any positive suggestions on how to improve my tech. We are all learning something new each day.
I am off to a beading class in a few minutes. This is a new craft for me so I am learning a lot of new things and fighting thread as you who bead will understand.
Happy crafting,
Janet

Cupcake

Here is one of the newest Magnolia stamps. I don't know the names of the little girls but this one is so cute. The cupcake stamps are from inkadinkado. This was made for a sketch challenge for a group I belong to, so someone will be getting her next month.
Nite all,
Janet

Smell the flowers

This is one of the 3 sketch cards I made for my HMCFE group. The little girl I received from a image swap on Just Cards. I used colored pencils to finish off the image and matted it on light blue, using pink and a multi colored pattern paper to finish off the sketch. They all turned out great and I will share the others in the next few days.
We had a great time making baby quilts today. Five other ladies came and we managed to get 11 completly finished, 10 still need tieing, 4 are sandwitched and ready to finish off and we have a couple dozen tops made and ready to add batting and backs too. We will have more ladies there to work on Sunday so I hope to get most of them finished. My goal is to get at least 50 completed quilts. At the moment my back/shoulders are hurting but it will be fine by morning. Bell Choir practice tonight so I guess I should take a short rest. Thanks for looking at my site and have a good evening.

Fall is in the air

Cool temps. at night now, fall is on it's way. I will need to start getting my flower beds cleaned and ready for winter.
Cantata rehearsal went better than I had expected, I am going to enjoy this new experience in my life. Today I am working at the church making baby quilts for our Faith in Action program. I organize the quilt portion of the event and decided to have an extra day to sew this year. This way we will have more quilts to send to the mission in Mexico that we help out each fall. I am hoping to have a room full of ladies to work on the quilts. We will work again on Sunday and then I will mail the quilts off to their new home.
My card today is string embroidery, tulips to remind us of spring. The little butterflies are easy to make out of silk flowers. Just clip off one petal, glue to your card attach a crystal for the body and draw in the antenna and flight path.
Have a great day,
Janet

Recycling old cards to make something new

For this card I cut a card I had received into two pieces and matted them on black. I matted a piece of blue that went with the pictures in black and placed it in the middle of my card. I then fastened my two recycled pictures to the card. Stamped and embossed the flourishes on the top and bottom and there you have it a beautiful card. The inside verse on this one makes it a Thinking of You card. You can do any kind of card and make double use of some of the cards you receive that are too pretty to throw away.
Happy crafting,
Janet

Created today - Pretty in Blue

I made this today using one of the images I received in a swap with Annika on my Just Cards group. Not sure who makes the stamp but I think it is a Magnolia stamp. I used colored pencils to color the image and a Fiskers corner punch for the edges.
I hope you enjoy the card.

The something different

Forgot to say what that was :). I am going to sing in our local Christmas Cantata this year. The first rehearsal is tonight and I am very nervous since I have not sung in a choir since I was in school. A long time ago. Wish me luck that I don't make a fool of myself. It is something I have wanted to do for years and now since I have retired I have time to try. My good friend is going to join also so at least there will be two of us new to the choir this year.

A new day, time to try something different

This is one of the Christmas cards I have finished for this year. One of around 100 cards that are finished :). Splitcoaststampers has a challenge to do so many cards per month (I am doing 10) so that we have our cards finished by November. I have mine finished now. Just have to up load the last ones . Anyway this card is fun to make and looks very elegant.
Stamp your tree image ( I bought mine at JoAnn's) on black or dark blue card stock, heat emboss in silver or gold (mine is silver). Next paint the sky with blue Perfect Pearls and the ground with green. I mixed the Perfect Pearls with a little water and used the small paint brush that comes with the set. After it dries mount on white card stock, then on silver or gold (again mine is on silver) then put onto your white card. Stamp a greeting on the inside and you are all done. Great card and very easy to make. thanks for looking and I hope you have fun making your cards.

Napkin card

Here is another easy project using a napkin. You will need butcher paper, fancy napkin of your choice, piece of white typing paper, and your iron (no steam)
Place the single thickness piece of napkin (face up) on the wax side of the butcher paper. Place typing paper on top and iron (cotton heat) until napkin is joined with the butcher paper. Use the resulting image as background paper, cut outs, etc. on your card. In this example I used it as the background and stamped a verse on the front.
Thanks for checking it out.

Spotlight card

A new tech. I tried over the weekend. Hopefully my swap partners will enjoy my efforts. This was a fun card to make and I was happy with the results. You fold your card in the size you wish it to be. Punch or cut a circle where you want the spotlight to apear. Back the page with your colored card stock, stamp the image and emboss. Finish the card with any verse or decoration you wish. Thanks for looking.

3 cards I made

Try this idea when you want to make a nice set of cards for a gift. They are quick and can be made very simple like the ones I have done or as elabrate as you want to get. These cards were made for a card challenge on the HMCFE swap group. The challenge was to make 10 or 12 cards using one piece of 12 X12 pattern paper and anything else you wanted to use. I made four cards of each style and they are now on their way to my swap partner.

Have a great day everyone, will catch you again soon.

My First Blog

I am a Grandmother who enjoys making cards, scrapbooking, sewing, gardening and reading amoung other things.
I decided to make a blog to share my creations with the ladies I do card swaps with and anyone else who enjoys doing crafts.
As soon as I figure out how to add some of my card creations I will be adding them to this area. My plan is to work on the blog at least four days a week. If any of my fellow crafters have suggestion for this blog please feel free to share them with me.
